Subject: [Bpf-cybersecurity] Announcing the BPF on Cybersecurity kick-off
call on May 17th at 15:00 UTC
To: <bpf-cybersecurity at intgovforum.org>
Hi everyone,
We’re about to get started with the work for this year’s Best Practices
Forum on Cybersecurity. As you can read on the website
<https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/QODdCrkggLTrDOwEQc7OWzJ?domain=intgovforum.org>,
this year we’ll focus work along the lines of our efforts in 2021, with an
additional look at distinguishing cybersecurity from cybercrime:
-
Identifying further initiatives, their relative scope, and explore areas
of disagreement exists between mapped cyber norms;
-
Recognize the voices of those most affected by cybersecurity events,
bring them forward to learn where norms development would have benefited
from their input;
-
Explore the complex interplay between norms and cybercrime legislation
and identify where these efforts support each other, collide, or impact
the overall work of mitigating major cybersecurity events. This aligns
closely to the work currently happening under the auspices of the United
Nations Ad Hoc Committee on Cybercrime.
We will have a *kick-off call for the BPF on May 17th at 15:00 UTC* to walk
through our program of work in more detail. (meeting registration
<https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/Cz3ICv2mmPCEyZOxwtXRNJe?domain=intgovforum.zoom.us>)
We invite all of you to register for the call, and to participate! We
realize this time won’t work for everyone, and will be switching between an
APAC-friendly and EMEA-friendly time for each meeting. Our subsequent
meetings will be on July 5th, August 30th and October 18th.
We also invite you to let us know if you’re able to volunteer for one of
our three workstreams:
-
Update the BPF's mapping of agreements: note that this year the work
will really be focused on identifying new agreements, and not reviewing the
old ones we already explored during the last two years;
-
Analyze major security incidents and bring forward the voice of those
affected by those incidents: the group is organizing a Rightscon event
which will kick off this work, and then continue as this workstream;
-
Engage in outreach with other organizations on the work of the BPF.
If you would like to participate this year, please fill out the form here
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1UmqIItUb39c8sNQIJOqSMsngG0nl866xCZynyus9hGE/edit>,
and we will be in touch with you shortly after the May 17th call to get us
all started.
Thanks, and look forward to working with you on this year's BPF!
Best regards,
Maarten
