Hi Chengetai, Secretariat team,
If this has already been provided and I missed it, I apologize, but would
you be able to circulate a diagram of the room layouts at the venue?
If possible, it would be nice to know the availability of microphones (and
stands) per room, the location of the remote moderator stations, and the
placement of screens for the projection of transcripts and other material -
including remote speakers. The Main Session on Zero-Rating plans to engage
remote speaker from Slovenia, for example.
There has also been discussion about using a twitter display program during
the sessions (examples:
https://topalternatives.com/free-tools-for-displaying-live-tweets-at-events/
).
When we used this technology during NetHui (New Zealand's IGF), it seemed
to really add to the experience for session participants. But the social
and cultural climate at NetHui is very different than the global IGF.
Given the online attack against the BPF on countering online abuse and
violence against women, I think that if sessions would like to use this
technology, we should have a strategy for dealing with attacks and patently
destructive conversation. It might be worth considering within the broader
Twitter strategy (use of hashtags, for example) as well.
Many thanks,
Susan
