[IGFmaglist] Proposal for Day after IGF to substitute Day 0

*PROPOSAL** TO THE MAG TO SUBSTITUTE DAY 0 for POST IGF REFLECTIONS*



Noting that Day 0 is no longer feasible because of *Armstice* day, I
propose that we turn this into an opportunity to have something the Day
after the IGF where we do as follows:



1.     Highlight emerging themes and lessons from the IGF 2018, which can
be picked up by the global community for further exploration or action.

2.     Capacity Building initiatives that happen on Day 0 can occur on the
day eg. ISOC Capacity Building for Next Generation Leaders;

3.     Reflections on “Have We Learnt anything as a global community in the
last 13 years of IGF?” Short 10 min video documentary before the debate
highlighting strengths, challenges, opportunities etc.

4.     Host a *High Level Debate/Panel* or Roundtable Discussion on *an*
*emerging* Internet Governance issue between:

·       German Chancellor Angela Merkhel;

·       French President Emmanuel Macron;

·       Chinese President Xi Jinping;

·       Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsieng Loong;

·       US President Donald Trump;

·       Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari;

·       Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta;

·       Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama;

·       Trinidad & Tobago Prime Minister Keith Rowley;

·       Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau;

·       New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden;

·       Russian President Vladmir Putin

·       Qatar Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa

·       Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi

·       Representative from Civil Society.

·       Representative from the Technical Community

·       Representative from the Private Sector;

·       Representative from Youth

5.     For 3, we can have this event jointly sponsored by NATO, European
Union, ASEAN, UN, Council of Europe, Commonwealth etc.
