[IGFmaglist] "NIC" VERSION 2.0 ON MAIN SESSION ON "ACCESS" AND "14G&D"

Dear Members of the MAG,
Here is a quick recap for the main session combining "Access" and "Internet as an Engine for Growth as Development" which is now being titled "Policies enabling Access, Growth and Development on the Internet", based on the Doodle poll.

i)       The last version for comments was circulated on the eve of the MAG meeting in Paris.

ii)      A brief description of the session was presented at the request of the Chair at the MAG meeting in Paris.  Requests for inputs and names were repeated at the meeting.  Some MAG members have also been individually been contacted and have very kindly reverted with ideas / names. Their inputs are in our possession and will be reflected in the next version (3.0).

iii)     16 volunteers had agreed to provide inputs and contribute to the session.  Most of them have been active.

iv)     Excellent suggestions and inputs, names of speakers, policy questions and ideas regarding session format as well as inputs for sub-themes have been received from Anriette, Patrick, Judy, Hossam, Yuliya, Peter, Anna, Olga and Paul.

v)       Version 3.0 will be circulated for comments next week.

vi)     After that, formal outreach will begin, to speakers / panelists, along with the background note and shortlist of possible policy questions, followed by preparatory calls scheduled for July 5, August 1 and August 8.
This is perhaps the first time - thanks to the flexibility in the large room provided by our hosts, the Government of Turkey, and confirmation by Mr. Chengetai Masango - this session is being planned as a large, hollow roundtable.  It is the first time we are experimenting with this format based on our experience from some large and well attended workshops at IGF Bali 2013.  Perhaps a small, but significant improvement, in bringing in new formats to main sessions.  Special thanks to Dr. Ahmet E. CAVUSOGLU for accommodating our request for this format in a main session.
You are invited to provide final comments if any, into the attached Version 2.0. (Comments received during and after the Paris meeting will be included in Version 3.0).
