While the technical issues are getting worked out, I'm just reposing the message of Tuesday to the workshop streamlining list to the whole group
Subject: Next steps on workshop streamlining
Apologies for the delay, but I've been trying to reach Subi who is co-chair before kicking off the work, but have been unsuccessful. In the spirit of moving the work forward I send out the follow for input, direction and comments and we can adjust as needed.
As a reminder, this group was set up to facilitate enhancements to the workshop proposal process for IGF's post Bali, including seeking public input on criteria and a workshop submission template. The specific steps proposed and accepted by he MAG are at the bottom of the email for easy reference. I would propose that the first step is for the group to identifying the evaluation criteria to be used. Once there is tentative agreement on those, the group could then turn to looking at how to adjust the existing workshop template to reflect the evaluation criteria. The criteria used most recently on a 0-2 three point scale was:
- Perspectives : that workshop proponent made an effort to include diversity of perspectives on the topic
- Diversity: that there is a geographic, gender, stakeholder or other diversity reflected
- Relevance: is this a relevant topic for the IGF annual meeting (also consider quality of the proposal i.e is the proposal well thought out and complete)
Thoughts/comments on these three.
Are they sufficient?
If so, why?
If not, what's missing?
There has been reference to other criteria developed previously by a working group led by Mervi. As a new MAG member I don't have those. Could some share and we can add these to the discussion thread.
Can participants provide comments by Friday July 19th and I can attempt to synthesize the input and send out a revised set of criteria July 24th for further discussion.
Fiona
Work plan
Step 1: Creation of a group of MAG members interested (June)
Step 2: Development of draft workshop evaluation criteria and workshop submission template (July ? August)
Step 3: Review by all MAG members for input (September)
Step 4: Publication on the IGF website for public comment and information (October 1)
Step 5: Discussion of criteria and template at IGF Bali (October 24)
Step 6: Finalization of criteria and template and their publication on the IGF website (December)
Step 7: Call for workshop proposals for IGF 2014 (February 2014)

Hi Raul,
fully agree.
But there is no activity in the list and we were not sure if it was working.

Hi Raul,
I have subscribed to all the lists and only recieve info from the regional one.
As for the development session we are working using our own emails.
Thank you Olga for your email.
The right thing in my view is to use the list, since this is the only way for other people to look at the archives and follow up the discussions.

Dear Chengetai
i have been checking the lists' archives and I am very surprised to see that only in 3 of 9 thematic lists there have been some emails exchanges and most of them just kick-off type emails. National-regional initiatives seems to be the only exception.
Am I checking the rights archives? there have been emails in all the lists?
Thanks,
Raúl
