São Paulo Multistakeholder Guidelines - The Way Forward in
Multistakeholder and Multilateral Digital Processes

Webinar / hybrid session to be held during EuroDIG, on May 14th, at 7:30
am UTC

Internet governance and digital policy processes need  unprecedented
coordination to unlock technologies’ benefits and tackle its harms. But
multistakeholder forums face growing challenges. To remain relevant,
they must strengthen their ability to build meaningful consensus and
influence multilateral processes—ensuring diverse communities don't just
participate, but shape real, lasting outcomes.

The NETmundial+10 Multistakeholder Statementfrom 2024 offered and called
upon the worldwide community to adopt and use a set of guidelines and
related process steps (“São Paulo Multistakeholder Guidelines”- SPMGs)in
Internet governance and digital policy processes.

In that direction, the MAG (IGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group) invites
all the IGF community to a webinar / hybrid session to be held during
EuroDIG. The session is targeted at the various groups of the IGF
ecosystem - NRIs, Best Practice Forums, Dynamic Coalitions, and Policy
Networks. The MAG would like to see each of these groups reviewing their
own governance practices in light of the São Paulo Multistakeholder
Guidelines and, if appropriate, revising and strengthening their
multistakeholder mechanisms. This session at EuroDIG is thus an initial
outreach effort to all those groups.
