On Monday 12 September, ICC BASIS is organizing a workshop at the WSIS forum. As it starts at 9am ahead of the MAG meeting I am writing to encourage those MAG members interested in the subject to attend. Beyond your interest in the subject of discussion, I would also like to invite you to speak during the event as IGF ambassadors to highlight how IGF presents an opportunity for meaningful interaction across stakeholders on just the policy topics we are addressing. That is part of our messaging - and a case always best made by diverse testimonials.

On the occasion of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2017,
(12-16 June 2017, Geneva, Switzerland) we have the pleasure to invite you to attend a workshop on

Connectivity, meaningful access and inclusive growth
in developing countries

*       When: 12 June 2017, 9:00-10:45

*       Where: ITU Tower, Room C2

  *   Who: Representatives of governments, business, civil society and technical community, especially from developing countries will participate in an interactive panel discussion to share their experience in leading or cooperating on projects to expand connectivity and adopt digital technologies.

Convened by ICC BASIS, the workshop will provide speakers and attendees with an integrated view of the lessons learned from local and regional projects aimed at advancing the development agenda by enhancing connectivity, adopting digital technologies, and encouraging public-private partnerships and investments.
By exploring the opportunities and challenges developing countries face while implementing these projects, participants will exchange experiences and share perspectives on related dialogues taken up in various policy arenas.

During the event the International Chamber of Commerce will launch its recent policy statement

ICT policy and sustainable economic development.

The statement presents how the ICT ecosystem works in practice and discusses the essential role of ICT in realising the 2030 Agenda.

It also underscores the ways in which policy choices within and across components of the ICT ecosystem can impact the potential of ICT to be leveraged for societal benefit.
