Dear colleagues,
there has been an open question on whether or not to have a MAG Working Group on Fundraising.
After further discussions with the Secretariat and several MAG members, I would like to propose the following:
That we start immediately by actioning some of the low-hanging fruit and assess whether or not a formal WG is necessary at a slightly later stage. This allows us to put all our efforts into activities focused on bringing in new donors now. We would start with a small dedicated team that was willing to jump in and help immediately, while at the same time seeking ideas and contacts from all MAG members.
The primary actions would be:
A - Secretariat and/or Chair work with current donors that have promised funds to ensure they have everything they need in order to process their contributions (some need reports, others require additional documentation, etc.). This is already underway.
B - Update past IGF promotional materials - underway
C - Ask current Donors to identify other potential donors (1) - and current donor to work with the MAG Chair and the Secretariat to action as appropriate
D - Ask MAG members to identify other potential donors (1) - and MAG member to work with the MAG Chair and the secretariat to action as appropriate
E - Chair and Secretariat work to identify additional donors (1), and action as appropriate
(1) - Should include name of company/organization, contact details, identify points of interest/interconnections with IGF, and level of involvement desired by the individual suggesting the potential donor.
In addition, the Chair and Secretariat are continuing work to sign future IGF venues several years out and this along with the planned work on a multi-year strategic work plan for the IGF is also expected to aid fundraising efforts going forward.
A few MAG members have volunteered to jump in and help with a focussed effort and I hope to call on a few others for specific stakeholder/industry knowledge. If you have suggestions, or interest in helping, please send a note to me as MAG Chair.
Look forward to your comments,
Best,
Lynn
