Dear all,
In anticipation of this week's call, I would like to initiate a clean
thread on the issue of MAG's role in the implementation of CSTD
recommendations for IGF improvements.
As a reminder, our terms of reference
<http://www.intgovforum.org/cms/175-igf-2015/2041-mag-terms-of-reference>
state: "The MAG in its work will also be guided by the recommendations of
the Working Groups on Improvements to the IGF and will make all efforts to
improve the IGF along the recommended lines." Furthermore, the WSIS+10
outcome document
<http://workspace.unpan.org/sites/Internet/Documents/UNPAN96078.pdf> calls
for accelerated implementation of the Recommendations (para 63).
As we consider our work in the new 10-year mandate, I would like to *invite
members to share their views on how we, as the MAG, can achieve the
objective stated in our TOR*.
Looking at the summary of the OC/MAG Geneva meetings, there is clearly
interest in this topic among MAG members. At the same time, there is no
clarity of how, if at all, the MAG should approach this.
At this stage, I am not suggesting to set up a working group (although that
may be the direction we decide to take), but rather trying to spur
discussion to help us identify the appropriate scope and format for this
important work.
Looking forward to hearing your views.
Best wishes,
*Lea Kaspar*
