Dear All, I have some concern regarding the parallelrunning of a main session with workshops and also the free and maybe open catering.Maybe we need to launch an activity toencourage participants to move to the workshops rooms. I suggest A social mediacompetition. MAG will help pick the top winners (with orwithout official judges), and prizes can be provided by the host or sponsors. I propose the following criteria for consideration
   - Top Tweets:

   - Educational tweets
   - Most Retweets
   - Most Likes

   - Top Blogpost:

   - Content reflecting the workshop
   - Using visuals
   - Structure
   - Most shared
   - Mostcomments

   -

   - Top Video:

   - Originality of concept
   - Presentation  of the topic
   - Best production value
   - Most shared
   - Most commented

   - Top Facebook post

   - relevant to IGF content
   - Most likes/shares
   - Most comments
   - Includes multimedia(Photo, video, etc.)  SelectionProcess

   - The winning contentshould have one of the official hashtags (#IGF2015 or ...) of the event
   - The winner should bepresent at the workshop (physically or online).
   - Any attendant during ArabIGF might potentially win a prize. There will be no discrimination in terms ofage, country, sex, or background.  Prizes: maybe tablets, online courses,... (to be decided bythe host)
    The winners (number to be decided) can be announced at the end of the IGF during Closing session.
I think it is a good idea to be considered and if accepted we can work on the details to enhance it.

 Subject: [IGFmaglist] Suggestions for amending the Guidelines for Workshop Proposals

#yiv9338765619 body{font-family:Roboto, Arial;font-size:14px;}Dear all,
here are a couple of my suggestions for amending the Guidelines for Workshop Proposals:
* * *
Proposed new text for evaluation criteria #10 "Does the proposal include a well-considered plan for remote participation?":
- Does the proposal include a well-considered plan for effective interaction with the workshop participants, both online and on-site?
The related Workshop Proposal requirements should also be adjusted to reflect this change. In this regard, it should be explicitly stated, wherever appropriate (e.g. in the "Organizational principles" section of these Guidelines; in point #1 and/or point #6 of the Considerations for Workshop Proposers; point #12 of the Workshop Proposal Template etc.), that "the practice of pushing questions and comments towards the end of the session is strongly discouraged, in favor of a higher level of interaction with the workshop participants, both online and on site (including persons with disabilities)".
* * *
Proposed new text for section "About remote participation" (should be "About online participation"):
An online participant is a person who follows and participates in the workshop session online. Standard online participation platform of the IGF is WebEx. Online participants, joining a workshop via the WebEx platform, are able to follow real-time audio and video stream of the session and participate, either by directly intervening using audio-only or audio/video/presentation capabilities, or by submitting text-based comments (which are read by the online moderator). Facilities for supporting WebEx-based online participation (conferencing system, cameras, projection screens, online moderator station, audio/video mixer, technical assistant etc.) are available in all Main and Workshop Rooms at the IGF venue [this should be corrected if necessary]. Workshops should be designed in an inclusive format that supports participation of online participants on an equal basis with on-site participants. In addition to using the WebEx platform, workshop organizers should consider monitoring social media feeds/comments and not only allow for, but encourage online participants to intervene. Workshop proposals must include the name of an online moderator. Online moderator is not a technical support person, but a person familiar with the workshop topics and aims. Online moderator must work closely with the organizers and develop a clear strategy for encouraging and facilitating online participation. Online moderator must be in contact with the session chair/moderator before the session begins and coordinate inclusion of the online participants. All presentations, photos, charts, documents and other materials that will be shown in the room must be made available to the online moderator before the session begins, so that the materials can be made available via the WebEx platform. More information about online participation at IGF is avaliable in IGF Remote Participation Manual (How to use WebEx) and Remote Moderators Guidelines developed by MAG WG on Remote Participation. [this is 2014 version, I couldn't find online the version used for IGF 2015]

MAG WG on Remote Participation also provided some recommendations for the Main Sessions, but I understand that the Guidelines on Main Sessions are not yet open for comments?
Best regards,Sloba
