Subject: [IGFmaglist] Update - IGF Best Practices Forums & Main Session
Dear all,
This note is to give you a quick update on the status of preparations of the Best Practices Forums and collect the group's thoughts on the organization of the Main Session "Best Practices Forums Wrap-up".
The Lead Experts (see names below) have kick-started the discussion on the various mailing lists. The discussion has picked-up in the Local Content, Spam and CERTs groups. Increased participation is still encouraged in the 2 other groups: Online Child Protection and Multistakeholder Mechanisms (you can sign-up to the mailing lists here: http://www.intgovforum.org/cms/open-call-to-join-igf-best-practices-forums-preparatory-process )
The groups are looking at a set of 8 questions (common template attached). I understand the 2 UN consultants will be in place mid-July. They will assist the Lead Experts in documenting the discussions that will feed into the five 90 minute sessions that will, in turn, report into a Best Practices wrap up Main Session (day 3). A summary booklet/handout on each Best Practices discussion/forum is also one of the intended outcomes to be published after the IGF 2014 meeting.
With regards to the final Best Practices Main Session (90 min), it is suggested to organize it the following way:
1. Setting the scene, objectives and methodology of IGF Best Practices Forums (5 min)
2. Strengthening the role of the IGF to address emerging issues (5 min)
3. Presentation by Lead Experts of the outcomes of each Best Practices Forum (40 min – 5-10 min each)
4. Q&A with the audience, suggestions of new themes of Best Practices Forums (35 min)
5. Wrap-up, what worked/possible improvements for next year, pursuing the IGF's intersessional work (5 min)
Suggestions on the structure of the Main Session welcome!
Best,
Constance

Subject: [IGFmaglist] Update - IGF Best Practices Forums
Dear MAG colleagues,
This is to give you an update on the status of preparations of the IGF Best Practices Forums.
Many thanks for the suggestions of Lead Experts for each theme, we are awaiting a few responses but most of them have confirmed their interest and will be joining a coordination call tomorrow (Thursday 15:00 UTC, details below).
Between 30 and 40 experts have joined each BPF mailing list. Between now and September, the objective will be to collect and discuss best practices, and to organize the IGF BPF sessions (90 minutes per BPF = 5 sessions). A common reporting template has been attached to guide our work and the discussion on each list, monitored by the Expert Leaders:

- Karen Mulberry (Policy advisor, ISOC)
- Christine Hoepers (General Manager of the Brazilian CERT)
3. Establishing and Supporting CERTS for Internet security:
- Christine Hoepers (General Manager of the Brazilian CERT)
- Name tbd (ENISA) (awaiting tbc)
- Maarten Van Horenbeeck (Chair of FIRST) or Adli Wahid (member of the FIRST SC) (tbc)
4. Creating an enabling environment for the development of Local content:
