> (i) Civil society speaker: Further to the intimation from Joana from Brazil, yesterday, that she would need to leave the panel/session at 11:00 a.m., we have received 6 nominations for the civil society speaker list. Since Brazil is already represented in the first half of the main session through Joana, I thought it may be a good idea to approach Valeria Betancourt of Ecuador (referred by Bill Drake), since we already have speakers from civil society from South Africa, China and EU. We will try and see if John Walubengo, Kenya (referred by Adam Peak), can also be brought in to add an additional perspective, as he comes with excellent credentials. Currently Africa is well represented across all stakeholder groups, but Kenya is only represented through Alice Munyua, who in her role as a moderator, may not be in a position to speak about Kenya / Africa herself. We will reach out to the two speakers sequentially.
> (ii) Technical community: We have just learnt through Constance that Kathryn Brown of ISOC, who had earlier confirmed, will be unable to speak at the Access / Development main session, as she is also committed to speaking at a different main session. I believe Kathy wants to careful not to be seen at too many main session, and provide others an opportunity. We completely respect that decision. We are now in talks with volunteers/ moderators to find a replacement for Kathy. The two names that have been offered are Jari Arkko from ITEF and Raul Echeberria, representing ISOC.
> (iii) Private Sector: As you are aware, as against civil society, technical community and government, private sector had only 3 speakers (all from developing countries). There is now an offer for Dorothy Attwood, who heads Global Public Policy at Walt Disney, to present a media/content perspective. This would help balance this session with a voice that can focus on content and add gender balance on the overall panel, from the private sector.
>
> Please let me know if any MAG member has comments to offer on the developments mentioned above, and the replacements / additions that we need to pursue. Given that we are well past the deadline, every attempt will be made to try and close these over the weekend itself.
