We are delighted to share some ROAM-X updates from recent months!

The assessments were conducted under the joint SDG Fund project “Advancing the SDGs by Improving Livelihoods and Resilience via Economic Diversification and Digital Transformation<https://www.jointsdgfund.org/programme/advancing-sdgs-improving-livelihoods-social-protection-human-rights-and-resilience>”.

An essential part of this work was fostering multistakeholder dialogue. Validation workshops<https://www.unesco.org/en/articles/unesco-hosts-workshops-internet-universality-south-pacific-islands> brought together diverse actors from each country to discuss findings and refine recommendations. In Fiji, a dedicated workshop<https://www.unesco.org/en/articles/strategy-action-fiji-advances-inclusive-digital-transformation-unesco-support> went a step further by engaging stakeholders in the country’s digital development to jointly identify and plan the implementation of priority actions.

We want to thank and congratulate all our partners, engaged stakeholders and researchers for this success.

Engaging in Global Digital Policy Dialogues

In recent months, the UNESCO has actively contributed to major international conferences, bringing evidence-based insights to global debates on digital governance.

UNESCO contributed to the global debate at EuroDIG 2025 on building an inclusive, rights-based, and gender-responsive digital future by highlighting how its Internet Universality Indicators and related frameworks help address the gender digital divide, online violence, and unequal access, while supporting evidence-based Internet policies.

In response to the active discussions on WSIS and SDGs ahead of the WSIS +20 revision, UNESCO convened a session at Global IGF 2025 demonstrating how UNESCO’s ROAM-X framework serves as a robust, evidence-based tool for measuring WSIS implementation and assessing digital ecosystems in a comprehensive, data-driven manner. We are delighted to announce that the Internet Universality Indicators (IUI) Framework is now available in French<https://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000395131>. This release will broaden access to the framework and support its use across Francophone regions. Stay tuned—the Spanish version will be coming soon!

New National IUI Reports Now Available

In addition, UNESCO has recently published the Ethiopia<https://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000393847> Internet Universality Indicators report.
