Subject: DC of DC IGF Session - Suggestion to discuss interoperability from each DCs perspective
Dear DCs
There was an discussion at the most recent DC call, to change the approach to our joint DC session.
I suggested we take up a theme of interest for Summit of the Future .... Interoperability.
Our discussion will be very interesting if we all outline what we think for each DC are the issues for interoperability.
Governments will listen for their citizens. The private sector will listen for their revenue projections. Civil society will listen to see if it helps to reach the last mile etc.
Healthcare is projected to be the best funded IT speciality for the next 5 years. Here are some of the issues I hear to reach "The Interent We Want* I focus on the medical internet of things.
Wearables - can they function globally or is it restricted for best performance when travelling? How can we help this person travel. This can be extended for more complex medical health devices. Band width, electicity, technical constrainsts, privacy, contectimg back to mother hub for updates etc. This will long term impact robotic surgery etc.
Simple telemedicine - how easy is it to send large files between patient and doctor? Can a zoom work in a remote location ? What are the limitatiins of dial up. This is a citizens immediate concern, not highly technical policy solution remediation.
Dedicated access. It is determined in times of crisis there is the opportunity for dedicated internet for health care a virtual medecin sand frontiers, but of course net neutrality is compromised reaching victims of acts of God or other disasters.
What about power? What is accessibility for interoperability of advanced medical devices in towns rather than cities that may not have power black outs? Equal access to healthcare is a political subject and UN SDG 3.
What about interoperability due to language scripting issues? Topic being promoted by UNESCO and ICANN.
What about keeping the whole value chain Green for interoperability? What about waste?
But these all have themes common to all of us and we can build a book or repository of casestudies or examples at least.
This is what the main DC session should be about! Bringing us together for a stronger whole to find group solutions.
A common platform for all our diverse view points to be strong together! How could we help each other get better performance and out reach?
It was said we need fireworks... this will be a beautiful display of wants for a theme that the Summit is looking to promote amongst nations for collaboration between sectors wants, by bundling the central needs together!
Thank you for your consideration of this rate limiting step to reach the last mile with a focus on diversity and inclusion.
Kind regards
