Hi Kaneko

Looking at your latest version, I see that you have done all the work of including my suggestions, I have read it and have no further comments.

Here at ICANN I am talking to a couple of other people that are involved in IGF matters in view of our participation later this month.
I hope things are well at Interop25.

Cheers,
Roberto

Kaneko - and all

Tomorrow I will be travelling by train and will therefore have the opportunity to consolidate the draft for the 2024 Annual Report.
Also, at the ICANN83 I can get the expertise of who has already submitted Annual Reports and come with a final draft by the end of next week.

At that time, we have only one more week to get agreement and submit it, as it would be good to have it done when the IGF takes place.

Best regards,
Roberto

Roberto,

Yes, the "Plans for 2025" section may have more instances. We can certainly talk about it after the IGF over a virtual meeting among ourselves. For the the first two points below, I think we can add it to the document.

I understand that IPNSIG has organised the Space Summit 2025 - see https://www.ipnsig.org/summit2025 - as a virtual event in July. Quoting from the home page I see “Because the Internet is for everyone… even in Space”. This spells out an excellent reason why DC-Interplanetary is important, and is active - to the extent that our limited time resources make it available - within the IGF, and in particular in the DCCG. We should promote this event, and indicate this in our 2025 planning.

Yes, definitely.

Linked to this, I think that we should stress more our participation in the Cluster 4 - “Future of Multistakeholder Governance” - indicating that the DC-Interplanetary could be a unique opportunity for the IGF to extend the Internet Governance Multi-Stakeholder model to include new fields of application. In simple words, if we can learn from the current Internet Governance constellation - the I* community - how to apply the Multi-Stakeholder model, the I* community can learn from us how to possibly extend the model.

Yes, as well.

Last but not least, and I understand that this last bit may be something that we should internally discuss, maybe in a IPNSIG webinar (BTW, what happened to the IPNSIG webinars, I remember that there were several events planned a couple of years ago, but I have lost track of that), we could reference the NETmundial+10 Multi-Stakeholder Statement “Strengthening Internet governance and digital policy processes” - see https://netmundial.br/pdf/NETmundial10-MultistakeholderStatement-2024.pdf. The idea is that we could use this framework as a basis to design guidelines for Internet Governance processes in Interplanetary Networks. Is this going too far ahead? If you think so, let’s drop it for the time being, otherwise let’s include this in some form, at least as a commitment to evaluate it, in the work plan for 2025 and beyond.

We might do something similar with that NETmundial document - how about we all read it through, convene after the IGF and if it makes sense, added to the 2025 plan?

Hi all

I have a few comments specifically on this document, and will make the point on IGF 2025 in a later message, as a few things have happened about the webinar up to today.

I wonder whether we should enrich the “Plans for 2025” paragraph. I make a couple of examples, hopefully other DC-Interplanetary members can add their own.

This is all part of the discussion that we should have after IGF 2025 to verify whether we want to go ahead with an internet governance model for interplanetary networks - and therefore continue as DC-Interplanetary - or not.

In terms of timing, we are quite late, but as long as the document will be finalised and agreed before the start of IGF 2025 we are good - or at least not too bad.

Cheers,
Roberto

I am overly late, but here is the DC-Interplanetary 2024 report. I added some text to Roberto's initial draft.

As we need to get this done quickly, I would appreciate your prompt review. We need to submit this before the IGF Norway webinar on "multistakeholder governance" planned June 5/6 (this week!). Apologies for being so late on this...Thanks for your patience.

Dear all,

Please find attached a sketch of the annual report.
I have filled the parts related to Riyadh, for other points I am unable to contribute.

I apologise for having missed the deadline for applying for a booth at the IGF 2025.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do. Tomorrow morning (EU time) I will be travelling, and quite busy for most of the following days, back home on Tuesday 1. April - just before the tariffs 🤪

Best regards,
Roberto
