Dear BPF Cybersecurity

Thanks to Markus for the introduction, and excited to be working with the BPF this year in the role of MAG co-facilitator.

I work in Microsoft's Regulatory Affairs team on Internet governance and connectivity policy issues. I previously worked in the International team of the U.K. communications regulator, Ofcom. I have therefore had the opportunity to work in various international fora, such as the ITU, OECD, ICANN and of course the IGF.

Cybersecurity is clearly a vitally important public interest issue and also central to Microsoft's efforts to protect our company, our customers and society at large.

I'm looking forward to helping to drive the work forward this year and providing an interface between the work of the BPF and IGF's Multistakeholder Advisory Group.

Ben

Dear all,

I am pleased to inform you that the MAG renewed the mandate of the BPF on Cybersecurity for 2018 - this means that we can get started! The Secretariat will send out a doddle poll to fix a slot for our next call for the period 31 May - 6 June.

We have a good basis to build on the proposal we submitted for the 2018 BPF is attached to this email. Comments and suggestions on how to move forward are more than welcome.

As the list is labelled somewhat misleadingly BPF 2016, we will create a new list. We will not migrate your addresses automatically, but ask you to opt-in. This will be in line with the EU?s General Data Protection Regulation which enters into force this week. The old list will be phased out gradually.

Lastly, it is also my pleasure to introduce the new co-facilitator who has taken over from Segun. We are fortunate that MAG Member Ben Wallis agreed to take on this role - he has a wealth of relevant experience and now works for Microsoft. Maybe Ben will follow-up to this email to present himself.

Best regards

Markus
