Hi All,

I am attaching a document (PDF and MS Word formats are provided) detailing the remote interaction structure using Dimdim. It explains how the process could work in the proposed Hub model. Let us use the next couple of days to understand and customize this model as much as possible and fix up all the things required to be done by Oct 8th or so that the next 50 days will be used in implementing the suggested things.

What do you all think?

Regards,

Sundar Subramanian

Hi all,

Thank you Rajesh and I am apologized for my belated email.

I agree with this planning and in particular providing the wokshop side room. thanks to Dimdim team memers for their willingness to customize . I think that the important element is to provide services with fair QoS and it is important to know if they need something to prepare at client side? e trust on they Dimdim guys that they are going to do a great job and help users.
How didim training will be conducted? and also for remote technical support (through email, IM etc)? is it possible to have presentation or manuals in prior that we can upload to our website. moreover, I think tha we should add a link to dimdim official website.
I sugest tat our grop test soon dimdim to allow everybody to check Dimdim features and be familiar too.

I have basic question about dimdim: does it allow recording option of activities (in addition to streaming)?

for customization I think that we should send our suggestions to allow developers ought ime to cod and test new features.

for user number, I think that the priority is for hub for individuals I think that we should provide a simple and light dimdim version (if there is scalibility issue)

Regards

Rafik

Hello Rafik, Ginger, Marilia,

I hope I have included correct persons in this email!

During visit of Markus Kummer and Chengatai to Hyderabad this week, we could work out some modalities of Remote Participation, and I must mention that it is so delightful to see such a positive response from IGF Secretariat.

Indian Industry (ISP Association, Sify, BSNL and others) is fully involved in the preparations and this gives us great confidence regarding the IT aspects. Rajesh Chharia and Naresh Ajwani, to whom cc is marked, are personally involved. Rajesh Chharia is President ISPAI and Naresh Ajwani is CEO Sify as well as NRO member.

DIMDIM CEO DD Ganguly and co-founder Sundar are based in Hyderabad and their team is fully committed to the project. (I met their team in their office - a talented bunch of young boys and girls- it is going to be fun!)

During meeting in Hyderabad, following line of action emerged:

In the main room, for all 4 days, approved Hubs can participate remotely thru DimDim. Trusted groups across the world should contact IGF Secretariat for "pre-approval", and this effort can be coordinated by Remote participation group through the website http://www.igfremote.com <http://www.igfremote.com/> Both the Host Country website www.igf2008.in <http://www.igf2008.in/> as well as official site www.intgovforum.org <http://www.intgovforum.org/> can provide links to this site and give small description of endorsement of this project. DImDim team will provide username passwords to coordinators of pre-approved hubs and give at least one one-to-one training (over DimDim of course) and do one all-groups trial run before the actual event. Our Technical guys will try to give better webcast to remote hubs. During event, various hubs can log in during any time, and ask questions or participate thru chat, audio or video, share PPT or PDF or VIDEO etc. There will be a team in Hyderabad (main hall) to coordinate these activities and provide "moderation". I look to old Diplo veterans Dhrupad, Nikhil and Nityesh, as well as other members of Remote Participation Project for this. We will try to set up at least two remote hubs in India also. Markus had another good suggestion: Remote Participation over DimDim could also to be provided in side workshop rooms, but that will not be moderated but managed by the organisers of these workshops. We will put DimDim engineers in these rooms also to provide Technical support.

This is the proposed line of action. I invite comments and suggestions from all.

Regards and best wishes,

Rajesh Aggarwal
