Dear Marilia

Dear All,

“sorry I sent an unfinished email previously”

Thank very much for message and for your availability to help us making our
local hub event a success story. First off all let introduce myself:

My name is Victor Ndonnang and I’m an IT consultant from Yaounde, Cameroon,
Central Africa. I caught the Internet’s virus in 1997 when my country was
connected to the global Internet node. Since then, everything I do revolves
around the Internet and its development. I participated in the Internet
Governance Capacity Building Programme of DiploFoundation in 2009 but I
could not finish the advanced phase because of life’s matters beyond my
control. By the way, I would very much like to participate in the IGCBP
program next year and complete the entire programme (Advanced and research
phase). This year I successfully participated in the 4th edition of the
Euro-SSIG in Meissen Germany.

In Cameroon, I help companies and individuals in the appropriation of ICT
for improving their working and living conditions. In the framework of
voluntary and association activities, I’m working to finalize the
establishment of the Cameroon Chapter of the Internet Society. The Chapter
activities will effectively begin in early September, and the organization
of the local hub for the remote participation to IGF 2010 is going to be
one of our first events. There is a lot to do in my country to build
capacities of the local community on the Internet governance issues. So We
will organize an educational and social event around the local hub to
discuss national issues of the Internet governance. We will find local and
even regional experts to discuss with participants and explain more topics
to them between officials sessions of the IGF. We believe that this should
make participation more interesting and benefit to attendees.

I have received an email yesterday from Bernard Sadaka about the online
training and I already express my preferences. I’m available and excited to
have an email interview so I’m waiting for yours questions. It is always a
pleasure for me to explain how things are going on in my country concerning
IG.

Sorry English is not my first foreign language so don’t hesitate to ask me
more explanation if you don’t understand what I’m trying to say.

I cannot end this email without express my gratitude and appreciation to the
Remote Participation Working Group for all the great work you are doing to
enable everyone to participate to IGF.

Many thanks once again

Best regards.

Victor

Objet : [Rp2010] Preparing IGF remote participation

Dear IGF 2010 hub organizers,

I hope this message finds you well.

This is the first of a series of e-mails intended to give you assistance
with remote participation in the upcoming IGF. I have sent this e-mail both
to a list we have created to facilitate our communication (
rp2010 at intgovforum.org) and to your personal e-mail addresses. If you have
not joined this list yet, please do so as soon as possible. The next e-mails
will be sent only to the list. If you did not receive an invitation to the
list, please let me know, so we can send you one.

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Marília Maciel and I am a member
of the Remote Participation Working Group. This group was created in 2007
and it is composed by volunteers from civil society who work together with
the IGF Secretariat to improve remote attendance in the IGF. Our main goals
are: 1) to provide online trainings on the platform that will be used for
remote participation (Webex); 2) to give you technical information and make
sure you meet the technical requirements, so you can join the IGF
successfully; 3) to give you procedural information on how to ask questions
and actively participate in the meeting; 4) To be in contact with you during
the IGF and assist with troubleshooting.

You will shortly receive two e-mails. The first one will be about the
schedule of the online trainings. It is very important that you let us know
your preferences as soon as possible. The second e-mail will contain some
useful information on hub organization. Please, feel free to contact us if
you have any doubts about them.

Last but not least, as we all get ready for the organization of the remote
hubs, we thought that you might be interested to promote a little bit more
what your institution is doing, who you are and what are your projects
underway.

This is a little contribution that the Remote Participation Working Group
can give, to enhance awareness about your event and facilitate gathering
attention around your hub. If you would like to have a short email
interview, please let me know and our team will send you a few proposed
questions that you can expand, edit or remix as you find more adequate.

We are all looking forward to working with you!

Best wishes,

Marília
