This list was originally created in response to my request to the
Secretariat in 2006, because I saw the absence of an official
multi-stakeholder mailing list for all IGF participants as a significant
shortcoming of the IGF as a whole.  Unfortunately that failing was never
remedied, because the Secretariat did not publicise the list's
availability, or participate on the list.

In my view everyone who registers for the IGF should be subscribed to
the list (unless they disable a checkbox on the registration form), and
notified that the list would be used as a channel for official
communications, and for discussion.  The current lack of such a channel
(for which Facebook is not an appropriate substitute) has long been
difficult for me to comprehend.
