I wonder if you could clarify one part of the letter from UN DESA’s perspective. 

 

The Roadmap referred in para 93a to “Creating a strategic and empowered multi-stakeholder high-level body, building on the experience of the existing multi-stakeholder advisory group.” My understanding from the Roadmap session we had with Fabrizio Hochschild during the MAG meeting was that this high-level body would be separate and complementary to the MAG, although I may well have misunderstood that. 

 

In referring to para 93a of the Roadmap, Mr Liu’s letter says that “ A strengthened MAG is instrumental…” which seems to imply that the new multistakeholder high-level body would be an evolution or replacement of the MAG, rather than an additional body. 

 

I appreciate we might need to wait for the Recommendation 5AB Champions to publish their Options Paper, but if it’s possible to clarify UN DESA’s thinking (i.e. whether 93a refers to an evolved MAG or a separate body in addition to the MAG) that would be interesting.
