[IGFmaglist] IGF and World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2017

Dear MAG colleagues,

following past IGF-MAG Chair engagements and in my role as 2016 IGF-MAG Chair, I was invited to attend the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting 2017 in Davos, Switzerland.   This is part of ongoing outreach activities of both the WEF and the IGF.  It recognizes the common interest between the World Economic Forum’s development activities and so many of the IGF activities.

Specifically, I was invited to participate on the System Initiative Stewardship Board on Shaping the Future of Digital Economy and Society.  This Initiative houses the WEF's “Internet for All” program which in turn collaborates with the IGF’s Community Intersessional Programme - Policy Options for Connecting and Enabling the Next Billion (CENB).

While neither the MAG nor the MAG Chair for 2017 is finalized, I wanted to ensure this was known to the MAG/IGF community.  The IGF community and secretariat are working together in the IGF’s CENB Initiative and the WEF's Internet For All Initiative; if there is interest from the MAG, we could review these activities at the first IGF 2017 Open Consultation/ MAG meeting.   

The Secretariat is working on dates and venues for the first IGF 2017 Open Consultation/ MAG meeting, and will shortly open consultations on the draft agendas.

In the interest of increasing awareness of the IGF, I will be tweeting as much as possible.
