[IGFmaglist] Registration for the upcoming MAG and OC -- online participation as a 'special need'

Dear All,

Apologies.  Our technical person was just trying out some options in the morning 

This year we have a new registration system. One of its aims is to have participants only register once and then the next time their details will be automatically filled in for subsequent registrations to IGF meetings etc.. We are also tying it to the UNOG registration system.

Therefore , we will keep that registration for people who need badges and we can confirm they came as the system will indicate that their badges were issued.

For online registration we will do it when people logon to WebEx and we can extract the records from there and build a separate online participation list.

But now below the space for special needs says that you will participate remotly, you have to put there "Online participation"

Thanks, as always, Lynn.

It is important to note that the registration form does not classify online participation as special needs per se. I chose to note my online participations in the text box provided for special needs, because there was nowhere else to note it. Sorry for any miscommunication on my part.

thank you as always for your very helpful suggestions.  Could the secretariat please look at the issue of online participation status being classified as a 'special needs’. This really is an inappropriate and loaded characterization.  I believe the forms are UN wide which makes it all the more important that this be addressed.

PS.  Both the MAG and MAG Chair for 2017 have not been announced so we are all acting in personal capacity during this period - trying to do the “right thing”.

Quick thanks to our chair, Lynn, and everyone for discussions and input. I avoid posting agreement, to lower the email traffic, but I carefully read and appreciate your posts.

I have registered to participate in the upcoming meeting, but I had to note my online participation status in the 'special needs' box. I also noted that online participants should not be required to give passport information, unless it is needed for ID verification, as some online participants might not have a passport. 

I know Lynn and MAG members give priority to online participation. If we had a possibility for online participant registration, online participants could be noted as registered participants, and the tech team would possibly be more prepared for our engagement.
