Equally important, we would like to take this opportunity to emphasize that
the *lightning sessions will not take place in a room*, but rather are
‘open air talks’. A small platform, microphone and monitor for
presentations is the only setup and will be installed in the IGF Village
exhibition area for this purpose.

The concept behind this format of session is that they be as visible and
public as possible. Engagement with listeners of the talk is meant to be
‘close-up’ and informal. Taking our cue from how much these open sessions
were appreciated last year - and while we will not have the benefit of
Mexico’s warm climate (!) - we have wanted to retain the simple setup of
the sessions and their placement in a public space. Below this message are
some photos from 2016 to help you visualize!

Because the time allotted is short and interaction with participants key,
it is therefore recommended - though not mandatory - to have 1-2 speakers
only. A powerpoint or other visual aid is also highly recommended to
support your presentation.

If you will use a ppt or other file to be displayed during your talk,
please remember to bring it with you on a usb. We would also appreciate
receiving this by email as soon as possible.

Should there be any questions on this - or on any of the information above!
- please do let us know straight away.

Once again, we sincerely look forward to meeting with all of you and to
hearing your presentations.

Very best from us,
Eleonora
