[IGFmaglist] RE-DRAFTED PROPOSAL FOR SETTING UP OF COMM. OUTREACH WG

Dear Lynn & MAG members,


Following various contributions from the MAG members, please find below the
re-drafted proposal for the setting up of Working Group on Communication
and Outreach.

·      *WORKGROUP OF COMMUNICATION & OUTREACH *

·      *Wisdom Donkor - **Volunteering as member*

·      *Ginger Paque - **Volunteering as member*

·      *Zeina Bouharb - **Volunteering as member*



 *Objectives:*


      i.         To support and contribute to the improvement of IGF
communication and successful hosting IGF 2016.

     ii.         To promote the values, purpose and importance of the IGF
to the global community stakeholders in line with the new mandate.

   iii.         Increasing IGF information penetration and outreach,
raising awareness and bringing all stakehokders to the knowledge of IGF and
and participation in IGF both in person and remotely.

   iv.         To improve interaction and communication with other Internet
governance-related entities in order to further global policy dialogue,
while enhancing communication of outputs from IGF intersessional activities.

     v.         To provide IGF outreach support for the underserved
communities, bridging communications gaps with opportunity of providing
access for communication and representation in the IGF process.



*Please Note:*



*I’m not sure Monitoring and Evaluation should be under the scope of the
WG. M&E is entirely a different scope of work that may require another
working group. UNDESA and other UN groups such as CSTD etc are
statutorily empowered to do so. (Please anyone should advise us)*



Scope of Work


The Proposed WG will have the following scope of work (subject to MAG
contributions etc).



   1. Messaging and communication on upcoming events with linkages to IGF
   2. Remote/Online Participation of IGF stakeholders
   3. Working with IGFSA on communication e-pamphlet and outreach mission
   to NRIs, Geneva, and New York and the Host community.
   4.  Establishing channels of communication with special focus groups
   such as persons with disabilities, youths, women, and policy makers.
   5. Working on messaging content and structure to support MAG Chair
   outreach and high-level briefings.
   6. Enhancing IGF’s online presence and social media visibility
   7. Communicating the multi-stakeholders nature and understanding of IGF
   policy dialogue process to various related communities.

MAG members can still provide contributions before the next MAG meeting.


If approved by MAG, there will be need for the following activities to take
place within timeline or before the next MAG meeting;




   - MAG volunteers to serve as Coordinators and members of the WG
   - Creation of the WG Mailing list by the Secretariat.
   - After the above, Virtual meeting of WG will be held to develop
   workplan and approach to implementing the plan in line with the current
   reality.
   -  Adoption of common approach and sharing of roles.



Please note, I have attached the WORD format for easy editing/review.  MAG
members interested in this WG are still free to review the proposal and
suggest further areas not covered or the missing points.
