Dear Lynn, and All,

Thank you Virat for reminding the MAG and Juan for those comments you made.

I think there is merit in a physical meeting in September or October am
flexible either way. There have been some criticism on the part and role of
MAG perception or otherwise. It is critical that we leave no stone unturned
in addressing  any perceptions by ensuring that we complete our tasks.

Whilst the Secretariat is gathering/compiling a list, I would like to add
to the list the following:

*Review of MAG Role (Internal Informal/ Operational Audit) *

   - Review of the Role of the MAG in meeting the mandate given to it by
   - Reviewing the Improvements Suggested by the Working Group on Reviewing
   the IGF Processes
   - The objective of this is to identify what aspects we could improve
   before the IGF. What are some things that have been raised that we can
   incorporate NOW instead of waiting for next year.

*Review of Processes and Suggesting and Implementing Improvements *

*A. Capacity Building in Intercessional Work*

*Stream 1 BPF and Dynamic Coalitions*

   - Drawing from Inter sessional Work and making sure there is seamless
   coordination of key areas e.g.:
   - *Providing Space for the Best Practice Forums (IPv6, IXPs) *[MAG
   members on these Forums have been encouraging the BPFs to produce output
   that whilst showing best practices show linkages to impact on SDGs [*If
   there is no space* within the IGF proper if we could coordinate with the
   Host Country to have the BPFs to coordinate jointly with their Mexican
   counterparts (NIC or IXPs) to facilitate this capacity building. [Notably
   within the BFP whilst doing outreach for membership, I had received
   feedback that some of the previous IGFs had not accepted some of the
   workshop proposals in the past that targeted capacity building so in
   reviewing the Guidelines perhaps these are some things that we can pick up
   on.

*Stream 2*

   - We could also reach out to any Capacity Building group (e.g.. SSIG, or
   Diplo/ICANN/ISOC/NROs/ICC Basis etc  if they wish to set up a Working
   Committee to coordinate amongst themselves a Capacity Building session on
   Introduction to Internet Governance). We could appoint 2 MAG members to
   oversee the work. This could target New Comers as well as those wanting to
   know more about Internet Governance.

*B. Main Sessions*

   - The Main Sessions on the day should be one seamless thread of a
   central theme with key components that includes the voices of all sectors
   and meets the guidelines. Given that MAG members are all hosting the Main
   Sessions save one, looking into how this can be better organised. [I would
   suggest that a Working Committee of those facilitating the main sessions be
   organised virtually where they can work through some of these issues]
   - Instead of working disjointedly, I would like to see a level of
   cohesion into a central and common theme. This will help save time and make
   our efforts more efficient in pulling key and common threads as well as
   showcasing geographical diversity, stakeholder diversity in highlighting
   critical and emerging issues.
   - I would suggest that we add a Wildcard addition to include Financiers
   of Infrastructure (select members of the *Addis Ababa Action Plan* (this
   can be a 40 minutes concise slot) where they could highlight tangible key
   issues that require resolution which stakeholders can reflect on.

*C.Preparing Measurable Indicators*

   - Develop Automated Reporting Templates (standardised) that allows and
   enables those attending the workshop to submit this electronically (this
   will take coordination with the Secretariat - chances are this is already
   present in the system. *If it already exists*, then it could be reviewed
   to examine how it could be improved to factor in comments made by some MAG
   members in New York; This Automated reports should have places where people
   can input countries that participated and also indicators such as how many
   men, women, children, persons with disabilities etc participated to allow
   for ease of gathering a baseline of statistics with which we can measure
   progress in years to come;
   - We could look at two aspects, namely that when workshops have been
   finalised, prior to the event, they can highlight indicators which are
   submitted prior to the IGF and also to re-submit variations;
   - New indicators can include mode of funding of those who attended for
   instance (not saying this should be an indicator but is a potential example
   of an indicator. This will allow us to see if the speakers changed etc.)
   - I would suggest that a Working Committee work alongside the IGF
   Secretariat to prepare this and they could do this virtually but present it
   to the MAG in the physical meeting for endorsement before it is implemented.

*D. Retreat and Preparing for Broader Consultation at the IGF in
Guadalajara*

   - MAG Input into the Retreat; etc
