I was disappointed when we dropped access at a theme for the IGF, but heartened by the addition of the intercessional work on "Connecting the Next Billion". I applauded the work and thoughtfulness that has already gone into this concept. And admire the work that has been done. Thanks to the team on this! 
 Time Zones are not really a good  reason that I cannot be on all calls, on all topics. I have a day job, and I have to trust my fellow MAG members to carry forward. I know that all of us can drag ourselves to a 3 a.m. call when we really really must!  :-) 
It is just that I have other work to do, and you have done a great job.
So, my deep appreciation again to the work that this group  has done, and published for all other MAG members benefit. 
Now a word about -- imposing and inviting.
National and Regional IGF Initiatives are hard work, and are hard at work. And for some of us, we simply will not wait for a top down, and centralized hand from MAG members, because our communities of interest are NOT typical IGF-ers, but a whole broader and more diverse and more distributed set of players.

Let's motivate, encourage a more open and bottom up interaction, and see what the national and regional Initiatives propose in how they contribute to the intercessional work on Connecting the next billion.
All of us had a chance to do work on this initial proposal from the team that has given us a great approach. Many of us are very busy on other fronts. I still want to try to save the world from intergalactic meltdown. JUST KIDDING. 
 The MAG needs to be able to trust that a small group of MAG-ites, collaborating, will do good work. And, you have.  So, I would like to embrace it, and move forward.

Delaying until May IGF MAG, when we have loads of other work really makes me wonder... Why wait?

Note what you say about ensuring all on the same page but this is a reminder that we need to work fast with regard to securing inputs from the national and regional IGFs which are event-based. EuroDIG in Sofia is coming up fast on 4-5 June (Lee Hibbard is coordinating the IGF "next billion" session there) and the UK IGF is on 16 June: I need to advise the UK IGF's steering committee on how best to incorporate this particular inter-sessional linkage in the UK IGF programme in a week or so's time at the latest.

I wanted to weigh in here a little bit, too, as this is an interesting proposal, but I’m not sure I have all the information.  Just looking at the proposal it includes an open call for input, which I would totally support.  But, I’m just wondering about what kind of content we are looking for (i.e. would we provide any guidance about that) for the open call, and on the timeline.  I might suggest that we could discuss this in a little more detail at the upcoming open consultation/MAG meeting and get a good sense of the timing, etc.

Could we possibly postpone the open web call until after the MAG meeting so that the process has the benefit of that conversation?  I know that this would be useful for me, and possibly others who may not have had the opportunity to join all of the interim calls (because of time zones, etc).

Thanks very much for all of the hard work in pulling this together.  I don't know if there is room for editing, but I have a suggestion that I believe is important relating to the following point:

•       Diversity of ideas and opinions and views will be welcomed, while consensus will be encouraged differences of opinions can also be acknowledged.

Based on my past experience working on one of the main sessions last year, I think a big challenge is ironing out the process for how to handle a difference of opinion.  I think we should be clear about what happens when agreement cannot be reached on a particular topic or point.  I would offer two suggestions in this regard-- either you could take out both points where no agreement can be reached, or you would need to carefully explain all of the opinions and list them.  I think we should also change the above bullet to "differences of opinion must be acknowledged, or will be acknowledged."  The word "can" offers a choice of not acknowledging a differences, and I think this would be a mistake.

I would prefer to use the word compendium, rather than output, as I think that would better describe this effort, and if not I would recommend adding some type of safeguard language, so that output is not misconstrued as an outcome statement.  Just a few thoughts that I think could add some extra clarity and transparency.  Many thanks for considering, and thanks again to all who worked on this.
