[IGFmaglist] Draft Skeleton for review / Connecting the Next Billion

Dear Benedicto, Virat, Lynn, Baher, Avri et all MAG colleagues,

This is to give you an update on the status of the IGF track on "Policy Options for Connecting the Next Billion<http://www.intgovforum.org/cms/policy-options-for-connection-the-next-billion>.

Following the call held in July where we discussed the status of all intersessioal activities, including the Best Practices, we have been working with the Secretariat (Brian Gutterman, Anri van der Spuy and Carl Gahnberg) on collecting background contributions<http://www.intgovforum.org/cms/policy-options-for-connection-the-next-billion/list-of-contributions> on Connecting the Next Billion.

Note that background contributions are welcome on an ongoing basis and will be posted with due attribution on the IGF website, as they come in. We are expecting more from national and regional IGFs for instance. They will be taken into account through the iterative<http://www.intgovforum.org/cms/policy-options-for-connection-the-next-billion#methodology> drafting process agreed by the MAG.

A draft skeleton of the outcome document has now been developed and is attached to this note for your consideration. Based on the MAG's comments, the aim will then be to have a complete draft output ready by end of August, in time to be discussed at the next MAG meeting (2-4 Sept. 2015) and open for public comment through a dedicated web platform.

For tomorrow's MAG call, I would suggest we discuss next steps:

  *   Comments on the draft skeleton for "Policy Options for Connecting the Next Billion";
  *   Putting together the editorial group that will guide the Secretariat in developing the draft further;
  *   Organizing a call open to all all members of the Intersessional mailing list;
  *   Possible links and feeding mechanisms with IGF workshops, main sessions and best practices;
  *   AOB?
