Subject: [IGFmaglist] CCTLDs to co-fund IGF & IGF Istanbul "must-haves"

Colleagues,

some good news from several ccTLDs:
"That's why at the recent NETmundial meeting in Brazil , CIRA joined a group
of ccTLDs to financially support the IGF . Together, we committed a minimum
of $100,000 per year for several years. Participating registries include .AU
(Australia) , .DK (Denmark) , .CN (China) , .NL (Netherlands) , .UK (United
Kingdom) , .BR (Brazil) and .MX (Mexico) . I expect other ccTLDs to join us
soon."

Hopefully this initiative for a greater financial stability of the IGF will
grow.
With this will grow the MAG responsibility to make IGF respond to
strengthened role, increased trust and finances.

We need to make sure IGF Istanbul:
- will clearly address burning issues that NETmundial, CSTD WG and others
didn't resolve (incl. "respective roles and responsibilities", enhanced
cooperation, liability of intermediaries, net neutrality, surveillance,
cyber-conflicts etc)
- will be able to follow the dynamics of developments even after the
programme of Istanbul has been finalised (through ongoing public
contributions to each session, as I suggested in one of the previous emails)
- will move more towards tangible outputs - either following the ISOC
proposal on RFC, and/or best practices, strengthened format of the output
messages, bottom-up document proposals within IGF, or any other model

Let's make sure we discuss all this also today and in Paris.

Best,

	Vlada
