Dear Subi et al.,

I don't know if we are trying to find best practices or try to find the most suitable format which includes of course which is the right input for that main session. This session is very challenging and that's why it is so interesting to try to organize it. But I don't think we should try to find best practices but to try to find the right components for discussion. Just a very preliminary reflection.

I agree with Constance on the importance of IG Principles, the role of regional and national IGFs  and would add a possible IG roadmap that should be under discussion by that time. So, please count on me to help in building up this session.

Dear Subi et all,

Have we decided that best practices would be discussed within Main Sessions or through separate Best Practices Forums?
The former option offers the advantage of raising the profile of any agreed best practices, the latter allows to focus on a narrower set of issues that are ripe enough to build consensus. With regards to the theme "IGF and the future of the IG ecosystem", I have noted an interest to explore best practices for at least two topics: 1/ IG Principles, and 2/ Regional and national IGFs

A compromise could be that the outputs of best practices forums feed into a specific main session at the end of the event.

Dear friends and colleagues,

Further to the call today, this to invite all of you to participate in the planning of the Main Focus session,  which I have volunteered to facilitate related to- IGF & The Future of the Internet ecosystem- Main Focus Session . Marilyn has already expressed her willingness to work jointly on this. Would be delighted to receive inputs and suggestions or more expressions of interest, to put this session together.

In agreement with Janis's excellent inputs, we've identified three key strands:

1.       UN Strand (WSIS, CSTD, IGF)
2.        ITU Strand (WTDC and PP-14);
3.       Netmundial-Brazil 2014 -Evolution of the Internet and the future roadmap
And all of these would lead to best practices related to the core the values of the internet including but not limited to openness, inclusivity, integrity, freedom of speech and expression, universality, interlopability, permissionless innovation and multistakeholderism. And respond to challenges, conflicts, discourses  and way forward for an evolving internet ecosystem including IG principles and the internet of the future.

MAIN FOCUS SESSION:
Stage-1: call for volunteers and co-facilitators
Stage-2: Shortlisitng of strands/themes
Stage-3: Identification of Format
Stage-4: Call for Policy questions
Stage-5: Resource persons, speakers, facilitators
Stage-6: Readout for Best practices forum
Stage-7: Report
Stage-8: Feedback and review

While it is being planned, we'd request for the morning slot on Day III.
