Dear all

Attached is the first draft of an analysis of the 2012 IGF gender report
cards. These are a short set of questions which we asked workshop and
main session organisers to answer last year. The responses give an
overview of the the extent of women's participation, as speakers and in
the audience, and of the attention given to gender/women's empowerment
issues. The report card was designed with input from the Gender Dynamic
Coalition.

APC commissioned this analysis from an evaluation consultant, Dr. Debbie
Budlender, based here in South Africa. The data she analysed came from
89 IGF workshop and main session organisers who completed the report
card last year. The IGF secretariat helped us to distribute the report
cards.

89 responses from the total of last year's workshops is quite
impressive. We are extremely encouraged by this positive response. Much
of the credit for this goes to the Secretariat's Farzaneh Badii who put
a lot of effort into this.

The 2012 analysis makes interesting reading.

We are still waiting to hear from the Secretariat whether they will help
us distribute and collect the report cards again this year. We sincerely
hope they will. APC will once again take responsibility for paying an
independent consultant to do the analysis.

Comments on the draft 2012 analysis are most welcome. It is really just
a collection of tables at present. We want to present a final version at
the Gender Dynamic Coalition meeting in Bali.

Warm regards

Anriette
