[Evolintgov2014] [IGFmaglist] Next Steps: Way Forward Evolution of Internet Governance Ecosystem/Role of IGF – (Reaction to NETmundial + CSTD, WSIS, ITU, other fora.)

Dear Subi,

Just to clarify and make sure there are no unmet expectations, to my knowledge I have not volunteered for this session on the Doodle poll. In fact my response bounced back from the dedicated mailing list you cc'ed, noting that it is awaiting moderation as a post from a non-member.

Having said that I repeat that I am happy the group takes input from us too, non-members.

Filuz

Apologies for the brevity of this mail, it was sent from my iphone

I meant Marilyn might have missed the poll and therefore might not be aware that there is a separate session dedicated to specifically the IANA transition/ICANN part of the IG way forward. Your name you would notice is already a part of the original list on the mail even in this thread, taken from the doodle poll. so no confusion there. That also doesn't indicate that other than the volunteers who signed up the MAG members shouldn't contribute. On the contrary I continue to ask for inputs from all the MAG members. Additionally I have already requested the secretariat to add Marilyn to the mailing list created for this session.

I have no preference one way or the other and we should certainly decided on the strands today if possible over the virtual call or over emails.

This seems to be a shared strategy by most, looking at the Doddle poll. Having said that this should not stop anyone providing further input even for the sessions that they have not volunteered for and so thank you for your kind mail for the general invitation to do so.

All the strands remain important and thanks Marilyn for pointing out the very significant additional strands. W3C in particular , ICANN and IETF as well which are equally significant. But as there is a separate session on ICANN and IANA transition it was the collective decision of the MAG and the secretariat to keep them separate. You may have missed the expression of interest doodle poll, where they are listed as two separate sessions. However, I am sure we will be able to integrate them here as well and respond to key questions they pose for the overall Internet ecosystem but due to paucity of time, we will need to prioritize and balance all the strands, as well as speakers from each stakeholder group. All the decisions should and must be taken collectively by all 16 of us who volunteered with inputs from all the MAG members, especially since this is in the run up to 2015, we must send a strong message out together on the contribution and the significance of IGF as well in the overall IG landscape.
