Dear Subi et all,

I support suggestions made by Filiz, Marilyn and others to adopt a comprehensive approach and not solely focus on the inter-governmental elements of the Internet ecosystem.

Looking forward to our discussion today.

Best regards,

Constance

Hi Subi,

No, I have not missed the Doodle poll and I provided my preferences.
I believe it is not good practice to stretch oneself out thin and end up doing half a job so I have not volunteered to all sessions but picked up those I thought I could provide the best contribution to. This seems to be a shared strategy by most, looking at the Doddle poll. Having said that this should not stop anyone providing further input even for the sessions that they have not volunteered for and so thank you for your kind mail for the general invitation to do so.

I would follow-up on my support for what has been said that this main session bares "Evolution of the Internet and the future roadmap” in its description. And by definition this cannot be limited to WSIS, CSTD, IGF, and even NetMundial etc.. , as we make a listing in that detail.

I think if there are speakers from other Internet organisations like ICANN, NRO, IETF, ISOC, etc… further on the following:

  1. UN Strand (WSIS, CSTD, IGF): Peter Major and Janis Karklins (may be requested if they consent (suggestion)
  2. ITU Strand (WTDC and PP-14); Dr Hamadoun I. Touré, Secretary-General ITU (suggestion)
  3. Netmundial - Brazil 2014 -Evolution of the Internet and the future roadmap: Virgilio A. F. Almeida (Chair- Netmundial) (suggestion)

then this would remedy my concerns.

Kind regards
Filiz Yilmaz

Thanks Marilyn. Tero and Filiz. Excellent inputs all. We benefit, as always greatly Marilyn from your experience and your ability to hit the nail on the head. All the strands remain important and thanks Marilyn for pointing out the very significant additional strands. W3C in particular , ICANN and IETF as well which are equally significant. But as there is a separate session on ICANN and IANA transition it was the collective decision of the MAG and the secretariat to keep them separate. You may have missed the expression of interest doodle poll, where they are listed as two separate sessions. However, I am sure we will be able to integrate them here as well and respond to key questions they pose for the overall Internet ecosystem but due to paucity of time, we will need to prioritize and balance all the strands, as well as speakers from each stakeholder group. All the decisions should and must be taken collectively by all 16 of us who volunteered with inputs from all the MAG members, especially since this is in the run up to 2015, we must send a strong message out together on the contribution and the significance of IGF as well in the overall IG landscape.

I am deeply pleased and grateful to all the MAG members for their deeply insightful inputs and excellent suggestions on the MAG list and on the mailing list created for the session.

The id for the mailing list for this session is evolintgov2014 at intgovforum.org<mailto:evolintgov2014 at intgovforum.org>

Thank you Chengetai and the secretariat for facilitating the engagement.

To avoid cross postings and in the interest of keeping to the timelines do please keep sending your inputs on but not limited to:

I think e are too narrow re UN agencies and too focused on ITU. Unesco is also high priority to include .
I would suggest slight re formulation

Post WSIS (CSTD WG EC, WSIS+10 review
UN strand (ITU relevant activities: WTDC, PP, UNESCO)
NETmundial outputs

Note this ignores ICANN , ITEF, w3c

Is that what we want to do?

Right now this session is a little IGO dominated.

Dear All,

Further to the Doodle poll delighted to see that 16 MAG members have indicated their willingness to facilitate the IGF and way forward main focus session.

This is in continuation with my previous mail, following the virtual call.

And to seek inputs and suggesions in the planning of the Main Focus session, IGF& The Future of the Internet ecosystem. Would be delighted to receive inputs so that they can be collated for the May meeting and ahead of the next scheduled call.

In agreement with Janis's excellent inputs, three key strands have been identified for this session:

  1. UN Strand (WSIS, CSTD, IGF)
  2. ITU Strand (WTDC and PP-14)
  3. Netmundial - Brazil 2014 - Evolution of the Internet and the future roadmap

And all of these would lead to best practices related to the core the values of the internet including but not limited to openness, inclusivity, integrity, freedom of speech and expression, universality, interlopability, permissionless innovation and multistakeholderism. And respond to challenges, conflicts, discourses and way forward for an evolving internet ecosystem including IG principles and the internet of the future.
